Record ID: HAMP-702D5F
Object type: COIN
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Hampshire
Workflow stage: Published
A Medieval silver penny of Edward I (1272-1307); class 4a; mint: London; date: c.AD 1282-1283.
The coin has been badly double-struck on the reverse which has shifted the lower half of the cross and inscription from 6 o'clock to 7 o'clock position. This has resulted in the repetition of the letter A in TAS (i.e. TAAS) and the shortening of LON/DON to LODON.
