A Roman copper-alloy pin. The head of this well preserved pin is conical, tapering to an apex point. Four pairs of parallel grooves divide the surface of the head into quarters, and a groove also extends around the base. The integrally cast shaft extends vertically downwards from the centre of the head's underside; it is of circular section, tapering to a sharp point. A Roman copper-alloy bell shaped stud of Allason-Jones type 1. The solid-cast object has a circular-sectioned lower portion, the base of which is marked by a moulded rim. At the top, the object flares into a dish. A truncated-conical projection extends vertically upwards from the centre of this dish, with a circular depression at the centre of its otherwise flat upper surface. Located at the centre of the object's underside, contained within a rectangular socket, is part of the iron shaft. Diameter: 19.3mm; length: 11.7mm. Weight: 9.38g.

Part of a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead, South-eastern type, dating to the period c. 1000 - c. 800 BC. Part of the rim and body survive, as does the side loop. The rim comprises a pair of horizontal ridges, separated from each other by a shallow groove. Portions of two of the body's slightly convex surfaces remain, with a near-right-angled corner between. The top of the side loop springs from the rim's lower ridge; it is of suboval section and overlies a vertical casting seam. A copper-alloy scabbard chape, dating from the Medieval period. The chape has been made from a single piece of sheet metal which has been rolled into a cone and then partially flattened. At the top, the front and back edges are concave; the vertical seam is visible on the back face and the tip is damaged. A pair of rivet holes flank the aforementioned seam, both located a short distance below the chape's top edge. Length: 28.5mm; width: 17mm; depth: 8.4mm. Weight (soil-filled): 5.18g. Helen Geake dates sheet metal chapes of this type to the 13th and 14th centuries (2001: Ill. 31).

A moulded ring extends around the concave upper surface of this bowl, a short distance down from the rim. A short length of the integrally cast stem projects from the underside of the bowl. A copper-alloy Langton Down type brooch, dating from the Late Iron Age to Early Roman period. The underside of the spring cylinder has been lost, revealing the intact spring, which comprises six copper-alloy coils and an external chord. Only a short length of the pin survives, projecting at the centre of the spring. The top of the bow forms a right-angle with the spring cylinder. This bow is of flat section, its straight sides converging towards a pointed foot. A remnant of the openwork catchplate can be seen. Length: 38.6mm; width (head): 14mm. Weight: 3.29g.

An incomplete copper-alloy Colchester (one-piece) brooch, dating from the Late Iron Age to Early Roman period. The wings are of flat section and straight-sided. The two prongs which project from the centre of the head's underside represent the remains of the spring and rearward lug. The bow is of 'D-shaped' section, its straight sides tapering towards a pointed foot. No trace remains of the pin or catchplate. Length: 25.4mm; width: 11.2mm. Weight: 1.94g.
