A lead spindle-whorl of Medieval date. It is a circular spindle whorl with a central circular hole and is biconical. One side is decorated with an design of interlaced lines, the other with numerous different designs, which includes hearts and pellets.
Similar examples of spindle whorls have reportedly been found in contexts dated from the Roman through to the Post-Medieval period although the majority are typically dated broadly to the Medieval period c.1100-1500.

This is a handle from a chafing dish similar to examples from Norwich (Margeson, 1993: nos. 489-491). It is of c.15th-16th century AD date.
