An incomplete copper-alloy strap-end, dating from the Late Medieval period.
The upper part of the strap slot consists of a trapezoidal plate whose vertical sides angle downwards at 90 degrees. A plain rectangular plate has been attached at the base of this and is held in place by two copper-alloy rivets, located at the top right and left corners, respectively. Copper alloy strap end. Long strap end of two sheet metal strips, of thickness 0.8mm and 0.6mm for the back and front plates respectively, joined lengthwise. It comprises paired rectangular plates which meet to terminate at a disc on a short narrow stem with a cruciform knop at its end. The display face bears three grooves towards the belt end where it retains a copper alloy rivet of diameter 1.7mm and length 3.2mm. Suggested date: Late Medieval, 1350-1400.

Copper alloy strap end. Cast zoomorphic strap end of Anglo-Scandinavian style; in some respects resembling Thomas Class G which is dated to the later 11th century. A wedge-shaped splayed end formerly retained a strap of thickness 5mm, secured with a single rivet of length 7.7mm and diameter 1.7mm. This springs from a moulded collar which separates the attachment from an elongated sub-triangular plate which, unusually, is set at right angles to the plane of the strap, and set back from the front of the collar moulding.
