An incomplete copper-alloy double-looped circular buckle frame of Medieval to Post-Medieval date. It is missing the pin.
It is oval in section with a flat back face. The front face is decorated with six evenly spaced expanded rosettes or trefoils. The frame between the rosettes is decorated with a series of diagonal grooves. The bar is central and oval in section.
This buckle measures 55.42mm in diameter, 5.44mm in thickness, 27.49g in weight.
There is a similar example from Norwich (Margeson, 1993, p.29, no. 158). Also compare NMS-49D387.

A cast copper alloy buckle dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object is a double looped asymmetrical buckle and is D-shaped in cross-section. The object has a rounded outer loop and a rectangular lower loop. A moulded rosette framed by two scrolls on the outer edge of the rounded loop. Another moulded rosette decorates either end of the strap bar which is narrowed. The pin is missing. A cast copper alloy buckle dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object is a double looped sub-oval buckle. It is D-shaped in cross-section. The ends of the object are rounded and teh sides trefoil, with a slight raised ridge either end of the strap bar. The strap bar is narrowed and the pin is missing. The object has a dark brown patina and appears to have been tinned. The rear is undecorated and is corroded in places.
A similar example can be found in Whitehead, (2003), p70, no.440, and has been dated from c. AD1660-1720.

An incomplete and corroded Medieval sheet copper-alloy buckle plate (c. 1300-c. 1450).
This plate is sub-rectangular in plan and has a rectangular pin slot for the missing pin. It is folded widthways around a corroded iron bar. Close to the pin slot are two rivet holes parallel to the bar. One has a dome-headed copper-alloy rivet in situ and the other one is empty.
This plate is in poor condition and the breaks appear to be old. It is drab brown and green. Gilding is visible at the front around the rivet holes.

Medieval copper alloy buckle with remains of an iron pin. The frame is trapezoidal (very slightly narrower at the bar) with an external ridge near each corner and three filed grooves on the thick outside edge. The bar is not offset. The sheet plate is also trapezoidal (narrower at the inside edge) with a pin slot, frame recesses and one rivet hole near the straight inside edge. Cf. Egan and Pritchard 1991, nos. 437-9. Overall length 39.3mm. Frame 12.8 x 14 - 12.3mm. Plate 28 x 11.9 - 8.8mm. The rear part of the plate is shorter (24.5mm). Second half 14th century.

An incomplete copper-alloy D-shaped double-looped buckle frame of Medieval date. It is missing one loop and the pin.
The frame is D-shaped in section with a slightly expanded outer edge. The bar is central and triangular in section. The front face is decorated with a series of longitudinal and transverse grooves. The back face is undecorated.
This buckle frame measures 16.44mm in length, 18.92mm in width, 2.14mm in thickness, 2.24g in weight.
There are similar examples from London (Egan and Prichard, 1991, p. 83, no. 332, 333) and recorded on the PAS database (SF-67EE69).

An incomplete and worn slightly trapezoidal buckle frame with narrowed bar of Medieval to Post-Medieval date. It is missing the pin.
It is rectangular in section. The outer edge is decorated with a central longitudinal groove. The front and back face of the outer edge is decorated with a series of transverse grooves and a central pin slot. The bar has a central pin constriction. Still attached to the bar are corroded iron remains, possibly from the pin.
This buckle measures 21.21mm in length, 38.61mm in width, 4.26mm in thickness, 9.25g in weight.
