Record ID: YORYM-8FFFCE
Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Published
A complete flint abruptly blunted blade of Neolithic date (4000-2350 BC). The lithic is sub-rectangular in profile and concavo-convex in section. The dorsal surface contains four predominant negative scars with corresponding negative scars. Both the proximal and distal ends have been abruptly blunted and the left and right hand edges contain rough semi-abrupt retouch. The ventral surface is predominantly smooth with minor negative scars resulting from the retouch and a small bulb of percussion situated at the distal end. The lithic retains no cortex is therefore a tertiary flake.

Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Published
A complete flint blade/knife of Neolithic date (4000-2350 BC). The lithic is sub-rectangular in profile and concave-convex in section. The dorsal surface contains four predominant negative scars with corresponding arrises. The proximal end had been abruptly blunted, all other edges contain rough, semi-abrupt retouch. The ventral surface contains distinct ripples of percussion emanating from the distal end. The lithic retains no cortex and it therefore a tertiary flake.

Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Published
A complete flint blade/knife of Neolithic date (4000-2350 BC). The lithic is sub-rectangular in profile and plano-convex in section. The dorsal surface contains three predominant negative scars with corresponding arrises. Both the proximal and distal ends have been abruptly blunted. The left and right hand edges contain rough semi-abrupt to low angle retouch. The ventral surface contains four predominant negative scars with corresponding arrises, the most proximal of which appears to be a hinged flake removal. The lithic retains no cortex and is therefore a tertiary flake.
