Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 5, flat wing ends type, Western Group), cf. Mackreth 2011, 5.b4.Plate 50. It has rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings which hold the spring support bar, the spring is made from eight curls, the pin is missing. There is a crest at the top of the head, the rear of which is pierced and holds the spring external cord. A band with a narrow wise decorate either wing. A recessed line runs down either side of the bow. The lower part of the bow is missing resulting in the loss of the catch plate. Date 80-120AD.

It has rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that would have held the pin axis bar. A truncated loop at the top of the head would have held the spring external cord. The shoulders and terminals of the wings are expanded. A double band of pellets held within a linear border rind down the sides of the brooch with a double raised band running down the middle.
