An incomplete cast copper alloy openwork harness fitting, a probable cheek piece from a bridle fitting of the late Early-medieval period (11th century AD). The object is Anglo-Scandinavian in design and is a fragment of a larger fitting. This is likely to be one half of the cheek piece, the other side of the plate was probably symmetrical with a central hole and a projecting arm for the attachment to the leather harness strap (Williams 2007:2). A cast copper alloy dress fastener or hooked tag of early-medieval date. The fastener takes the form of a sub-circular plate with two holes for attachement to the garment, and a thin shank with hooked end projecting from the opposing side. In this example the two attachment holes are incomplete but the rest of the fastener is intact. There is the remains of possible decoration on the front of the plate however it is too faint to be able to discern.
