Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 4, flat wing ends type), cf. Mackreth 2011, 4.e. Plate 47. It has rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that hold the pin axis bar, the spring is made form eight turns, the pin is missing. The bow is plain, on both sides a moulding is present at the junction between the bow and the wings flanking the sides of the head. The lower part of the bow is missing resulting in the loss of the catch plate. Date 80-120AD.

Copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 5.a2, flat wing ends type, Western Group). Rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that hold the pin axis bar, the sping is made form eight curls, the pin is missing. There is a loop at the top of the head which holds the external cord of the spring. A concave band runs down the middle of the bow, this is flanked by a recessed line on eitherside. The lower part of the bow is missing resulting in the loss of the catch plate. Date 43-240 AD

The shoulders and terminals of the wings are expanded. A double band of pellets held within a linear border rind down the sides of the brooch with a double raised band running down the middle. The top half of the bow consists of a rectangular panel with triple raised band in the centre, this is flanked by two knops at the lower corners of the panel. Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 2.b2, flat wing ends, Plate 45). Rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that would have held the pin axis bar (the right wing is truncated). Three sets of double vertical bands decorate the front of the wings, a double recessed band runs down the front of the head and most of the bow. The catch plate on the reverse is truncated. The bow of the is distorted and bent back on itself. Date A.D. 50-60.
