A Roman brooch of Colchester derivative,Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, Western Group), cf. Mackreth 2011, 5.a4. Plate 50, no. 1585. (AD c. 80-120): The incomplete copper alloy brooch has wings which are semi-cylindrical terminating with perforated wing caps. The wings are decorated with two pairs of double-stranded linear grooves on each. At the junction of the wings and bow head there is an integral perorated lug which holds the chord in place. A copper-alloy fragment from a possible awl of Bronze Age date. It is broad and sub square in section. This awl measures 26.11mm in length, 4.38mm in width, 3.84mm in thickness, 2.25g in weight. There are similar examples from Suffolk (Pendleton, 1999, fig. 42, no. 143) (Rowlands, 1976, no. 1178).

An incomplete cast copper alloy rowel spur dating to the Post-Medieval period, (1500-1700). The spur is formed of two curved arms, both of which are incomplete, the neck and box of a rowel spur. The arms are D-shaped in cross section and curved. The neck of the object is lozenge shaped in cross-section and curves downwards towards the split terminal. An Early Medieval copper alloy cruciform mount of probably 6th to 10th century date. The cruiciform if formed of four projections emanating from a raised convex boss in the center. The projections all have concave sides and have rounded terminals. East terminal has been perforated with an irregular circular rivet hole, two of which have been broken by an old break. An incomplete copper-alloy oval plate brooch of Roman date. Only the central boss survives, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn. The front face has a central hollow, still containing traces of red enamel. The back face is flat and has traces of the adhesive that would have connected it to the now missing brooch. This brooch measures 13.92mm in length, 11.24mm in width, 3.59mm in thickness, 2.10g in weight. There are similar examples recorded by Hattatt (Hattatt, 1987, p. 257, 1207-1208).

An incomplete cut sheet copper alloy probable Medieval to Post Medieval (1400-1600) probable book clasp, missing one terminal and with damage to the other terminal. It appears to have no decoration. The object is an elongated diamond-shape 13.65mm wide and 1.09mm thick, with a jagged but worn break to one of the elongated ends. Rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that hold the pin axis bar, the sping is made form eight curls, the pin is missing. There is a loop at the top of the head which holds the external cord of the spring. A concave band runs down the middle of the bow, this is flanked by a recessed line on eitherside. A fragment of a cast copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating to the first or second century AD. The brooch has a head loop and three moulded ribs mid-way down the curved and tapered bow. The lower part of the brooch with the foot and the catchplate is now missing, as is the pin. It is unclear from the image if this is a hinged or springed brooch. Trumpet brooches with head loops date from c. AD 75-175.

An incomplete copper-alloy pin, dating to the Middle Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) period. The pin retains the head and part of the shank. The head is of truncated-globular, or sub-polyhedral form, with a ring-and-dot punchmark occupying each facet. A single collar separates the head from the remains of the circular-sectioned shaft. These pins are well attested to the Middle Saxon period, c. AD 720-850.

A complete copper-alloy sword belt decorative plate of Post-Medieval date. It is a flattened D-shape in section with a flat back face. There is a central triangular plate with a trilobite terminal at one end and two smaller projecting lobes at the other from which extend an integrally cast hook. A cast copper alloy two piece swivel probably dating to the Medieval period. The object has a D-shaped loop which measures 13.48mm in width and a smaller circular loop measuring 8.86mm in diameter. The join between the two loops is oval in section with a collar running around the circumference. The two halves are connected by a socket on the base of the larger loop and a bolt on the top of the smaller loop, the end of which is cone shaped. The collar is decorated with four circumferential grooves. The object has a blackish green patina and is in good condition.

A cast copper-alloy bridle bit link of Early Medieval date. It has a lozenge shaped terminal at one end which is oval internally and sub-rectangular in section. It has a knob on three of the corners. The fourth corner tapers into a D-section connecting arm with a rounded moulding. Beyond this moulding the arm flares into a circular terminal which is circular internally at the other end which is also sub-rectangular in section.

A cast copper alloy double looped oval buckle dating to the Medieval period. The object is incomplete. The outer edge of each frame has been damaged and there is no visible decoration. The pin is complete and remains attached to the strap bar. The object has a mid-brown patina and is in fair condition. Similar examples can be found in Whitehead, (2008), p53, and are dated c.1350-1650. The size of the object indicates that it would have been used as a shoe or a knee buckle.
