Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 4, flat wing ends type), cf. Mackreth 2011, 4.e. Plate 47. It has rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that hold the pin axis bar, the spring is made form eight turns, the pin is missing. The bow is plain, on both sides a moulding is present at the junction between the bow and the wings flanking the sides of the head. The lower part of the bow is missing resulting in the loss of the catch plate. Date 80-120AD.

Copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 5.a2, flat wing ends type, Western Group). Rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that hold the pin axis bar, the sping is made form eight curls, the pin is missing. There is a loop at the top of the head which holds the external cord of the spring. A concave band runs down the middle of the bow, this is flanked by a recessed line on eitherside. The lower part of the bow is missing resulting in the loss of the catch plate. Date 43-240 AD

An incomplete cut sheet copper alloy probable Medieval to Post Medieval (1400-1600) probable book clasp, missing one terminal and with damage to the other terminal. It appears to have no decoration.
The object is an elongated diamond-shape 13.65mm wide and 1.09mm thick, with a jagged but worn break to one of the elongated ends. At the opposite end a collar 2.83mm wide and 14.66mm in length flanks the expanded terminal, 11.60mm wide at the collar and 51.08mm wide at its worn crenellated edge. An incomplete copper-alloy oval plate brooch of Roman date. Only the central boss survives, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn.
The front face has a central hollow, still containing traces of red enamel. The back face is flat and has traces of the adhesive that would have connected it to the now missing brooch.
This brooch measures 13.92mm in length, 11.24mm in width, 3.59mm in thickness, 2.10g in weight.
There are similar examples recorded by Hattatt (Hattatt, 1987, p. 257, 1207-1208).

An Early Medieval copper alloy cruciform mount of probably 6th to 10th century date. The cruiciform if formed of four projections emanating from a raised convex boss in the center. The projections all have concave sides and have rounded terminals. East terminal has been perforated with an irregular circular rivet hole, two of which have been broken by an old break. An incomplete cast copper alloy rowel spur dating to the Post-Medieval period, (1500-1700). The spur is formed of two curved arms, both of which are incomplete, the neck and box of a rowel spur. The arms are D-shaped in cross section and curved. The neck of the object is lozenge shaped in cross-section and curves downwards towards the split terminal. Each side of the terminal contains a rivet hole which would have attached to the rowel.

This awl measures 26.11mm in length, 4.38mm in width, 3.84mm in thickness, 2.25g in weight.

A Roman brooch of Colchester derivative,Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, Western Group), cf. Mackreth 2011, 5.a4. Plate 50, no. 1585. (AD c. 80-120): The incomplete copper alloy brooch has wings which are semi-cylindrical terminating with perforated wing caps. Roman (AD c. 69-96) T-shaped brooch: The crossbar is tubular with a central slot to allow for the hinged pin. The pin is hinged on a copper alloy axis bar, and is incomplete. The crossbar is undecorated. The bow protrudes from the centre of the cross bar and is slightly hump-like and is sub-square in section. An incomplete cast copper alloy openwork harness fitting, a probable cheek piece from a bridle fitting of the late Early-medieval period (11th century AD). The object is Anglo-Scandinavian in design and is a fragment of a larger fitting. This is likely to be one half of the cheek piece, the other side of the plate was probably symmetrical with a central hole and a projecting arm for the attachment to the leather harness strap (Williams 2007:2). Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 2.b2, flat wing ends, Plate 45). Rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that would have held the pin axis bar (the right wing is truncated). Three sets of double vertical bands decorate the front of the wings, a double recessed band runs down the front of the head and most of the bow. The catch plate on the reverse is truncated. The bow of the is distorted and bent back on itself. Date A.D. 50-60.

A cast copper alloy dress fastener or hooked tag of early-medieval date. The fastener takes the form of a sub-circular plate with two holes for attachement to the garment, and a thin shank with hooked end projecting from the opposing side. In this example the two attachment holes are incomplete but the rest of the fastener is intact. There is the remains of possible decoration on the front of the plate however it is too faint to be able to discern.
