A Roman brooch of Colchester derivative,Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, Western Group), cf. Mackreth 2011, 5.a4. Plate 50, no. 1585. (AD c. 80-120): The incomplete copper alloy brooch has wings which are semi-cylindrical terminating with perforated wing caps. Roman (AD c. 69-96) T-shaped brooch: The crossbar is tubular with a central slot to allow for the hinged pin. The pin is hinged on a copper alloy axis bar, and is incomplete. The crossbar is undecorated. The bow protrudes from the centre of the cross bar and is slightly hump-like and is sub-square in section. Robert Kenyon, following on from the work by the French scholars P-A. Besombes and M. Bompaire (in Trésors Monétaires XXI, 2005), is working through the British examples of Claudian coinage recorded through the PAS assigning many so-called Claudian contemporary copies to Roman auxiliary mints which operated at Lyons (Gaul) and in Spain. This example is a native copy.

A complete fleur-de-lis shaped harness suspension mount of Medieval date. It is D-shaped in section with a flat back face. There is a pair of opposing circular rivet holes, one still containing a separate copper-alloy rivet with a flattened round head. The front face of the fleur is defined by two diagonal grooves.
