A copper-alloy early Roman Bagendon brooch. The head is flat and sub-rectangular, with a central slot for the hinged pin (now missing), and the cylinder formed by rolling backwards. The head has been bent downwards to one side of the slot following old damage. Orange corrosion product retained within the cylinder suggests that the axis bar was made of iron. Below, the head has lateral notches; the bars thus created may have very fine punched decoration within transverse grooves.
In profile the bow curves strongly in a P-shaped arc. It is a split bow and has been distorted slightly,…

A fragment of a leg of a copper alloy vessel of medieval or early post-medieval date. The leg fragment is shaped like an animal's foot with a rounded front akin to a paw. There is a knee-type projection halfway up the leg, while the reverse of the leg is flat and the front broadly rounded. It is likely that this object is the leg from an ewer or small cauldren. These vessels were commonly used from the 14th century through to the 16th century, however copper vessels were in use from the 12th century AD (Lewis 1987).

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A very worn copper alloy probable jetton of the post-medieval period. The jetton is very worn and not much detail can be made out; the inscriptions on either face are mostly illegible, however the name 'lauffer' can be made out. There were several Lauffers striking jetton in Nuremberg between AD 1554 and 1716. It is uncertain who this jetton was struck by however it is probably a rose/orb type issued in late 16th or 17th century AD. The jetton has been bent almost in half.

The damaged head of a Roman trumpet brooch with two lugs to retain the axis bar. The head is a sub-oval plate, the upper surface convex, rising to a central bow which has been broken off as it begins following old damage. The lower surface is seemingly flat, though with encrustations from iron corrosion product. An integral headloop has been cast centrally. It is semicircular, and with part missing having been broken through just off centre. It is connected to the plate by a wider rectangular collar, decorated with a row of indented triangles (rather than beading). The area immediatel…
