Medieval cast copper alloy trapezoidal strap loop with separate internal rivet, measuring 14.00 mm x 13.45 mm x 12.49 mm (internal 10.20mm) The top face is decorated with a central radiused bar moulding and incised diagonal lines around its external edge. The loop is corroded with a flaky brown-green patina. Dress Accessories 1150-1450, Egan & Pritchard 1991,illustrates a similar example See: p.232, fig.147, No. 1249 where they are identified from a datable context from 1350-1400 AD.

A copper alloy medieval (AD c.1350-1400) strap fitting. The object appears to be a convex figurative mount in the shape of a thistle-like flower, with a pendent (hanging) loop attached to its rear. The two ends of the loop and the mount are held together with a copper alloy rivet. Overall, the strap fitting measures 14.6mm long, 13.9mm wide and 7.3mm thick. It weighs 1.57g. cf. A copper alloy medieval (AD c.1350-1400) strap loop with an integral external rivet. The strap loop is trapezoidal in plan and the sides of the frame are rectangular in section. The side opposite the rivet has chamfered outer edges. The rivet projects from the centre of the short side of the frame and is circular in section. Overall, the strap loop measures 14.1mm long, 11.6mm wide and 3.4mm thick. It weighs 1.15g. cf. An incomplete cast coopper alloy strap fitting or belt decoration of the post-medieval period. The strap fitting consists of the remains of a probable heart-shaped main plate with an arrowhead projection between the curves of the heart; the lower section of the fitting is missing. The reverse retains one integrally cast attachment spike that would have helped secure the fittng to the leather strap. This style of fitting dates to the late 16th or 17th century AD.

A thick coopper alloy strap fitting or strap decoration of post-medieval to modern date. The fitting has a sub-triangular base with curved edges which extends in to two splayed leaves, which in turn are either side of a another narrowing and collared triangular element. On the reverse are the remains of two integrally cast attachment spikes which would have secured the fitting to the strap. The frame is rectangular in section. Overall, the strap loop measures 24.6mm long, 12.4mm wide and 5.3mm thick. It weighs 2.96g. cf. Read, 2001, Metal Artefacts of Antiquity, p.22, nos.223-4.
