A copper alloy Iron Age possibly Roman pin dating from AD c1-100. The pin is missing the end of the point. The head of the pin is conical and on the top of the cone there is a raised circular band with a recessed centre.

Copper alloy pin. Spiral headed pin, Flixborough Type 4, with a round section unhipped shank of mid point diameter 2.6mm constructed by the union of two D section halves. These are flattened towards the head where they are bent back to diverge and are curled into a pair of closed loops with their ends adjacent. Most of the examples from Flixborough are ascribed to an early 9th-century phase, with one in a probably intrusive earlier location. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 750-850.
Length: 78.8mm, Width (at head): 3.8mm, Thickness (below spirals): 2.5mm, Weight: 3.01gms.
