Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Nottinghamshire
Workflow stage: Published
A complete Prehistoric rounded scraper of probable Neolithic date, c. 4000 BC-c. 2350 BC.
This implement is sub-circular in plan and roughly D-shaped in cross-section. The dorsal face has been knapped overall and has finer knapping along the sides and one end but this has suffered considerable post-depositional damage. The surviving removals are short, sub-parallel and semi-abrupt. On the ventral face there is a large bulb of percussion with flake scar and associated rippling..
This implement is of matt mottled grey-white colour with slight iron staining on both faces.

Object type: COMBINATION TOOL
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Neolithic to Bronze Age tertiary sub-triangular flake of unpatinated mottled grey and brown flint with the extreme distal tip missing, the proximal end is also missing, both breaks are ancient. A patinated struck flint flake of later Prehistoric date. It is struck from a grey flint with mottled blue/grey patination on all faces, cortex remaining on both sides of the flake. At the proximal end is a prominent bulb of percussion and striking platform, with parallel flake or blade scars on the dorsal face but no evidence for edge retouch. It measures 69.32mm in length, 38.90mm in width, 9.65mm in thickness and 21.21g in weight. This is a flint flake of probable Neolithic or later date, c.4000-800 BC.

Record ID: NMS-420503
Object type: AXEHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Approximately half of a Neolithic part polished axe. The butt is missing due to an ancient transverse bending fracture that has plunged on to one face with a hinge. The break is along where the handle of the axe would have bene and was probably occurred during use. An inaccurate blow to the tree iss the most likely cause of a fracture like this. The flint isfpatinated pale brown and light grey mottled with some areas of spotty iron staining. On one face there is a darker brown patch of the original unworked thermally fractured flint. 107 x 89 x 31.5mm.

Record ID: LVPL-3FFA63
Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Wirral
Workflow stage: Published
A lithic implement dating to the Prehistoric period. The object is possibly a knife, indicated by the low angle retouch, which is made from a tertiary flake. The object is sub-oval in plan and trapezoidal in cross section with a large bulb of percussion at the proximal end below the striking platform. The dorsal face is smooth and worn while conchodial ripple marks are visible on the ventral face across the bulb of percussion. The retouch is short, sub-parallel and low angle.
The large bulb of percussion and the thickness of the flake suggest a later Prehistoric date. It probably d…

A very small flint flake of uncertain later Prehistoric date. It is struck from a pale grey flint with slight bulb of percussion, flake scars on the dorsal face, but no obvious sign of retouch. The flake measures 18.23mm in length, 9.07mm in width, 1.94mm in thickness and 0.33g in weight. This appears to be a small flake of uncertain later Prehistoric date, perhaps c.10,000-800 BC.
