Medieval sheet copper alloy 'shield-shaped' strap end with convex inside edge, two opposed notches in the sides and two copper alloy rivets one at inside edge and the other near the centre, the latter with a rectangular rove on reverse. In place of the normal bar-mount (Egan and Pritchard 1991, fig. 103), the outside edge is hooked forward. Cf. an example from Wymondham, Norfolk (HER 40446, NMS-1B23E6). 19 x 16.5mm. Second half 14th century.
