An incomplete, early Roman copper-alloy brooch. The brooch appears to be a varient of a spring dolphin or bow and fantail brooch. The wings are semi-cylindrical and are decorated with a narrow rib at each end. In the centre at the back is an incomplete hook. A comma-shaped bow arches from the wings, and this flares onto a lozenge-shaped panel . The sides of the panel are curved, and terminate with a collared bulbous knop on either side. The rib of the bow continues down the centre of the plate. The foot is missing.
