Object type: SHOT
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A lead post-medieval (AD c.1600-1700) possible shot of the "capstan" or "bobbin" type. It measures 22.4mm long and 15.4mm in diameter. It weighs 36.29g. The shot is broadly in the shape of an hourglass. The narrowest part of the shot is 12.8mm in diameter. Each end is slightly concave, suggesting that this may have been the middle shot from a multi-ball load. There is a short vertical ridge on one side, which may be a result of the casting process.
