Medieval copper alloy folding strap clasp frame with decorative outer edge in the form of a king's head, dated 14th century c.1300-1400. The king's face is triangular with incised facial features; the crown has four circular piercings between the fleurs. The rectangular clasp frame which projects from below the king's head has slightly convex sides which are a shallow D-shape in section and a sub-circular sectioned narrowed strap bar. See Egan & Pritchard 1991, 'Dress Accessories', for an identical clasp, p.119-20, fig 78, no.568.
