Nicely made pottery rim sherd in flint-tempered fabric recovered from a rabbit scrape. The sherd weighs 21g and comprises the flat rim, short everted neck and high rounded shoulder of an earlier Iron Age round bodied bowl (Brudenell's form K). The neck and rim are slightly burnished and reduced whilst the body of the vessel is oxidised. This suggests that the vessel was everted when fired with the rim and neck perhaps buried in ash whilst the body was exposed. Matt Brudenell has suggested that Early Iron Age pottery was in use from c.800 - c.350 BC (Brudenell 2011).

A severely worn Medieval silver penny of Edwardian issue, dating from AD 1279-1377. Archiepiscopal mint of York. Although much of the detail is unclear due to severe surface wear, it is possible to identify bi-foliate side-fleurs on the obverse crown and a quatrefoil with pellet in the centre of the reverse, indicating the archiepiscopal issue of York. Edwardian coins minted at the archiepiscopal mint of York are quite common in the Fourth Coinage, pre-Treaty period of Edward III, dating from AD 1351-1377 and it is possible that this penny is of that type.
