Roman (AD c. 69-96) T-shaped brooch: The cylindrical crossbar holds an axis bar. The crossbar has a central slot on the reverse to allow the pin to be hinged which is now incomplete. The wings are undecorated. The bow protrudes from the centre of the cross bar and is slightly hump-like and is an elongated sub semi-circle in section. A fragment of Roman (AD 43-70) copper alloy Hod Hill brooch, consisting of the head and part of the upper bow only, with a probably incomplete pin. It measures 15.11mm in length and weighs 1.36g. The wings are 14.03mm in width with a central slot for the pin. They curl forwards to hold the axis bar, which remains in the form of iron corrosion (visible at either end of the wings and in the slot). One of the wings is rather shorter than the other and is probably damaged. The head is triangular in shape, narrowing to 6.67mm wide just above the top of the upper bow, which is 8.23mm wide.…

An incomplete and damaged medieval silver artefact, possibly a brooch, with traces of gilding. The object is square in cross-section, with two of the rims decorated with an incised zigzag pattern. It is broken at both ends, with one terminating in a plain tip. In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996. A cast copper alloy plate brooch dating to the Roman period, c. 2nd century AD. The object is circular in plan and is flat with a raised central faceted conical boss on the outer face. The boss is surrounded by four circumferential grooves. Eight projections with a rounded terminal decorate the outer edge of the object, one of which is incomplete. The boss is riveted to the plate and the rivet can be seen at the rear of the object. At the rear of the object is a hinge, pin and catchplate, all of which are complete. Overall, the fragment measures 16.5mm long, 16.6mm wide and 4.8mm thick. It weighs 2.08. It is in the broad shape of an isoscelese trapezoid. It is broken along its narrow edge.
