A copper-alloy double-sided cross probably quarter moidore coin weight of Post-Medieval date. It is flat and square in form with worn surfaces. The front face depicts a voided cross with 5 pellets in each angle of the cross, all within an inner circle. The reverse carries a wreath enclosing a standing figure. It measures 17.13mm in length, 16.12mm in width, 1.90mm in thickness, 2.56g (39.51 grains) in weight. The moidor was issued in Portugal from 1677 to 1722 and in Brazil from 1702-1727 (P and BR Withers, 1995, p. 45). The standing figure on the reverse may indicate that it…

A rectangular, copper alloy (brass) coin weight for the French ecu, struck in Antwerp in the sixteenth century. The obverse depicts three fleurs-de-lys in a crowned shield of arms within a circle; the reverse has an upright hand flanked by the manufacturer's initials A I. The weight is 15.2mm long, 13.3mm wide and 2.2mm thick. It weighs 3.1gm. For reference see Withers, 1995, Lions, Ships and Angels, pages 39 and 60.
