Object type: COIN
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: Wakefield
Workflow stage: Published
An Iron Age coin: a copper alloy core of a plated stater, probably of the Corieltavi Domino type, dating from c. 50 BC - AD 10. It is 16.9mm in diameter and 3.2mm thick. It weighs 4.1gm.
The coin has similarities to Van Arsdell, 1989, Celtic Coinage of Britain, page 235, number 829-4 and Rudd,2010, Ancient British Coins, page 93, number ABC 1758, but is not a very close match.
