An incomplete Roman copper-alloy crescent type Aesica brooch of first century AD date, possibly AD 50-75. The brooch has a spring-case, half-cylindrical with closed ends. The spring-case has a width of 28.5mm and diameter of 7.0mm. A spring of sixteen coils survives within the spring-case as does the external chord (the chord lays over the top of the spring). It is uncertain whether the chord was held in place by a rear hook or now incomplete lug.
