An incomplete copper alloy Roman to post-medieval (AD c.43-c.1700) finger ring, missing most of its hoop. Overall, the ring measures 21.3mm long, 17.0mm wide and 12.6mm thick. It weighs 5.79g.
The bezel is oval in plan and measures 19.3mm long, 17.0mm wide and 3.2mm thick. The top and bottom surfaces are flat, but the top surface may have been enamelled. There is only a small section of the hoop, which projects almost at right angles from one end of the bezel and is semi-circular in section. At the break it measures 3.5mm wide and 2.2mm thick.

Treasure case 2014 T419: disclaimed as Treasure and returned to finder
Description: Fragment of Roman silver finger ring which has been broken at the shoulders leaving only the bezel and part of one shoulder. The oval bezel is slightly raised above the shoulders with a flat top and rounded edges. It is inscribed with unclear lettering. The lettering is worn but appears to be two uprights and a U shape with an underline: IIU. There is a flat border to the bezel which continues the line of the shoulders.
