Incomplete cast copper alloy sword belt hanger, missing its hook at one end, with openwork decoration in the form of a trefoil plate with three apertures: two teardrop-shaped and one heart-shaped. The plate then narrows to a bifurcate collar, and then tapers slightly to a bar which is rectangular in plan, profile and section, and broken at its terminus. There is a rounded knop beyond the ovoid plate, which probably extended to encompass a rivet hole at this end of the hanger, and there may have been another attachment plate at the opposite end where the hanger tapers and is broken. A copper alloy 'beehive' thimble of two piece construction. It consists of the rolled decorated tube and a plain domed top. The decoration does not appear to be machined. It consists of seven bands of a cable motif, each going in the opposing direction to the two bands adjacent to it. There are remnants of what appears to be a gilded finish in the pattern. The top appears to have had a white metal finish, possibly silvering or tinning. The rim of the thimble has been largely lost, leaving an uneven edge. Dating has proved problematic due to the lack of a convincing parallel. Overall s…

Roman copper alloy finger ring with a glass or rock crystal setting. There are remnants of an applied finish, possibly niello or tar. The loop is incomplete. The construction and form of the hoop and bezel suggest a Roman date though an exact parallel is yet to be found. The possibility that it is a Post Medieval imitation of a Roman form cannot be ruled out. However it was discovered in an area with a history of late Roman finds and it seems reasonable to give it a date of between c200 and c410 AD.
