A worn copper-alloy Roman sestertius of Crispina, dating to c. AD 178-88 (Reece Period 9), [SALVS S C], Salus seated left feeding snake at altar. Mint of Rome. RIC III, p. 442, nos. 672a-b. Crispina’s coinage was traditionally dated to c. AD 178-182, but more recent research suggests that she was probably not exiled to Capri until AD 188. Therefore, we date her coins to c. AD 178-188; although some coins probably date to AD 178-80, we cannot be sure which they are so all Crispina’s coins are assigned to Reece Period 9 (AD 180-192).
