Copper alloy Medieval or Post-Medieval everted rim fragment from a large diameter cast vessel, probably a cauldron. In plan the fragment is pentagonal, and on one of the broken edges there is a truncated circular hole filled with the remains of a coiled sheet tapered repair rivet. These cast vessels were widely used from circa 1200-1700 AD for serving and cooking. Butler and Green (2003; 15) state there is evidence that cast copper alloy cooking vessels became increasingly common during the 13th and 14th centuries. Although earlier copper alloy vessels are known they are rarer and mos…

A Medieval or Post Medieval cast lead alloy uniface token, c. AD 1250-1800. The token is decorated on one side with a raised design meant to resemble a Medieval long cross penny, with a long cross with pellets at its ends and one pellet in each quadrant. The other side is undecorated. The token has been bent, probably from in situ damage. It measures 20.5 mm diameter, 3.9 mm thick and weighs 8.4 grams. Tokens were easy to make and distributed widely throughout a large period of time; therefore, they are difficult to date precisely. Those decorated to resemble Medieval long cro…

A Post Medieval cast lead alloy uniface token, c. AD 1550-1800. Probably Powell Type 25. The token is decorated on one side with conjoined shapes, possibly depicting a debased form of the Prince of Wales Feathers. The other side is undecorated. The token measures 21.2 mm diameter, 1.97 mm thick and weighs 5.2 grams. Tokens were easy to make and distributed widely throughout a large period of time; therefore, they are difficult to date precisely. A cast lead alloy shot / ball for use as Buckshot of post medieval date (AD1600-1800). The shot is sub spherical with a relatively well formed surface patina.
