A very worn and incomplete silver groat of Philip and Mary, c.1554-1558 AD. As North, 1975: no. 1973. Parts of the edge of the coin are missing due to old breaks and there is a small joining fragment due to recent breaks.

Obverse: ELIZABETH D G AN FR ET HI REGINA; Crowned bust left Reverse: POSVI/DEV;AD/IVTORE/M:MEV; (I have made God my Helper); Square shield on long cross fourchée dividing the inscription Diameter: 22.6mm. Weight: 1.70g. DA=12:12. North, J.J. 1991. English Hammered Coinage, Volume II, Edward I to Charles II, 1272-1662. Spink & Son, London.
