Copper alloy prick spur. Central flat, hexagonal boss from the centre of which a short, rectangular-sectioned and pointed integral spike projects. One sub-triangular sectioned arm is complete, the flat surface inwards, angled from the central boss but straight rather than curved to form a once side of a U-shape. Slightly distorted Late Saxon copper alloy bar mount with a rivet hole in both trefoil terminals (one retaining a rivet), perhaps from furniture. This is a quillon / cross guard that consists of a thick copper alloy bar that is oval in plan and curved in profile. A rectangular hole in the centre measures 15mm by 5mm and is where the tang would have passed through. Both arm are gently curved downwards and taper to a rounded tip. On the forward edge of the cross-guard has a deep U-shaped groove that runs most of its length. This groove is shallow on either arm and deepens in the centre, and is where the blade would have sat. See WMID-301533 and KENT-75F808 for similar examples.
