A complete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy mount (c. 1500-c. 1650). The mount is in the form of a flower with two leaves and a stalk. The front of the mount has a moulded design consisting of a rounded flower head with sixteen petals. There is a leaf at each side and a stalk below which terminates at an oblique angle of about 45°. The rear face has two integral tapering spikes along the longitudinal centre-line, one at each end. These are folded towards each other and circular in cross-section. Cast sub-rectangular shield shaped plate with engraved upper surface, with an integrally cast blunt-ended forward facing D-section hook which has been broken. Three holes for attachment. The plate bears a moulded vegetal design of tendrils and leaves. Length 47mm, width 31mm, thickness (plate) 2mm, weight 9.92g.
