Object type: BUCKLE
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Medieval, cast, gilt copper alloy pin from an annular framed buckle. The main part, next to the loop, is of rectangular cross-section and decorated with a transverse groove and five punched or engraved probable annulets. Because of surface loss what remains of these features now stands proud of the surrounds. As the sides begain to taper towards the point the section changes to plano-convex. Length 48.5mm. Width 6.4mm. 14th century. (field BB)
