A Post Medieval complete cast lead alloy circular token. Powell Type 2. The obverse of the token has the letters HL and SS stamped into it the reverse is blank. It measures 28.86 mm in diameter, 2.26 mm thick and weighs 11.2 grams. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally; they are therefore difficult to date precisely but those with initials are thought to be Post Medieval in date, c. 1550-1800 AD. The style of the font suggests that this token is from the latter half of this period, perhaps dating to the early Modern period.
