Possible 1-ounce Avoirdupois lead weight, a hollow, roughly circular tub, tapering towards a convex closed end from which five short round-sectioned (distorted) tentacle-like lobes project. There is a small perforation in the side. Height (without lobes) 20mm. Diameter 17 - 20mm (13 - 16mm internally). Length and diameter of lobes c.9mm and c.4.5mm. Weight 28.98g / 1.0220oz. A very strange object which might, to judge from the perforation, be a ferrule. Probably post-medieval, c.1550 - c.1800

A cast copper-alloy double-loop buckle frame of medieval to early post-Medieval date, c. 1350-1720. A central axis bar (bent in antiquity) divides the sub-circular frame into two D-shaped sides. The frame is of trapezoidal cross section, but the axis bar is of triangular cross section. The pin is missing. The buckle frame has a degraded olive green patina. Reference: Ross Whitehead. Buckles 1250-1800. pages 44-45. Diameter of buckle frame: 37.30 mm. Thickness: 2.28 mm. Weight: 6.226 grams.
