A fragment of Roman copper-alloy possible vessel handle (AD 43-410) in the form of a bird's head with long curving neck, perhaps a swan. The break across the neck (oval in cross-section) is old and worn. All original patina is lost. The fragment is curving in profile and has an elongated beak which is slightly up-turned with pointed tip. Grooved decoration, some of it curvilinear, is only just apparent behind the head (due to wear). A Roman (AD 43-100) copper-alloy lozenge-shaped plate brooch with hinge mechanism, missing its pin and the curl of the catchplate. All damage is old. The lozenge-shaped plate is of flat section (c.1mm thick) with incurved edges and a sunken circular area at the centre (10.6mm diameter), decorated with two raised concentric ridges around the remains of a central iron rivet. Iron staining covers most of the sunken area. To the reverse are a pair of D-shaped lugs with the head of the pin caught between behind one end of the lozenge-shaped plate. A corroded wrought iron window/door latch of post-Medieval date. The latch has been manufactured from a rectangular bar which would have been approximately 14 mm x 7 mm. The roundel has been hammered out and has a tapered profile. The loop has a single circular aperture which was probably punched rather than drilled. The hook end is rectangular in cross section and has been drawn to a point. Length of latch: 124.35 mm. Width: 42.46 mm. Thickness: 7.08 mm. Weight: 94 grams. See Public-E2EAB4 and Public-E303D4. Post-medieval lead trefoil dress hook with an integral (squashed ) loop on the reverse and a (missing) separate hook. The form and decoration are very similar to those of Read 2008, no. 258, a lead/tin alloy piece. The front of the hook housing is decorated with transverse grooves. 25 x 22mm. Thickness (excluding attachments) 5mm. Read 2008, early medieval Class D, Type 6. 16th century.

Distorted medieval copper alloy domed thimble. There are two encircling engraved lines at the base below many vertical lines of tiny round indentations. Four concentric circles of the same on the dome surround a small plain area with a central hole. Five smaller holes on the dome are the result of damage. Cf. Egan 1998, nos. 821-5. An incomplete copper alloy rotary key of probable Medieval dating (AD 1150 to AD 1400). Around 50% of the key is present. It is irregular in shape and cross section. The bow is incomplete. The bow was probably original sub circular or lozenge in shape. The shank is attached to the bow at the mid point of the right hand side. The shank consists of an hollow rod, rectangular in plan and sub rectangular in cross section. The bit is sub rectangular in plan and cross section. The clefts consist of horizontal square grooves cut along the length of the bit. The key measures 25.2 mm
