Cast copper alloy Wirral type brooch dating from the early Roman period, that is the 2nd century. The brooch survives in good condition with only the pin and part of the springcoil missing. The surface shows little corrosion around the main part of the bow, but there are patches of corrosion around the spring and the foot. The catchplate survives, too. The brooch has a strong bow with triangular/D-shaped cross-section and a moulded foot knop. An incomplete cast copper alloy Early Medieval penannular brooch dating from about 410-699 AD. It is oval in section with lozenge-shaped terminals. The body is circular in plan, the terminals are flat and the pin is missing. Each terminal is approximately 3.3mm in thickness and decorated on the front with a series of five ring and dot motifs (one at each corner with one centrally) bordered by a single incised line; at the base of each terminal is a ribbed collar created by parallel incised grooves and ridges and there are a series of smaller groups of these ribs at intervals along the…

Cast copper alloy heraldic harness pendant dating from the medieval period, that is the 12th-14th century. The pendant is, shield-shaped with enamelled front face and an undecorated reverse. The front face has a heraldic motif bearing the arms of England, Gules three lions passant guardant Or (Three gold lions on red). The red enamel survive, the colour of the lions does not. Similar heraldic harness pendants are noted by Ashley (2002: nos. 51, 55, 67 etc.) and are of 12th-14th century AD date. A similar date range might be suggested for the current example.

Enamelled cast copper alloy Roman disc brooch dating from the 2nd/early 3rd century AD. It is complete except for the pin and part of the hinge mechanism and foot which are missing. The casting is still mostly intact, but much of the enamel is missing. The brooch was decorated with two concentric enamelled circles and a central cell. The colour of the enamel in the centre and inner ring must remain uncertain as none of the enamel remains. The outer ring was decorated with dark blue enamel.

Cast copper alloy strap end dating from the early medieval period, that is c. AD800-1100. It is a strap end of Thomas Class A1. The strap end is complete except for one of the halves of the split end. While the upper part of the strap end was 'split' to receive the leather strap (which was attached with two small rivets, now missing), the lower part was cast solid with what was probably chip carved decoration that received niello inlay (does not survive).
