A copper-alloy mount from the Medieval period, circa 13th-14th century.
The mount is in the shape of a bow, with a sub-oval centre and two flaring terminals with squared-off ends.The mount is convex to the front, concave to the back and appears to be die-pressed/stamped. Located near the centre are the in situ remains of a corroded iron rivet. The mount is undecorated and has an olive green patina Reference: Egan,G. and Pritchard, F. Dress accessories, 1150-1450, page 214 for similar examples. Length of mount: 12.50 mm. Width: 7.93 mm. Thickness: 2.60 mm. Weight: 0.383 grams.

Copper alloy mount. Cast plate comprising an arrangement of two sub-circular shapes with a knop surmounted by a smaller disc above the larger disc; the edges of the plate are rounded. A pair of pointed prongs of length c.10mm project from the back; both bent in the same direction (downwards as illustrated here). Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1600-1650.

An incomplete copper alloy mount of probable Medieval date. It is sub rectangular with one long straight edge, a rounded end, and the other shaped edge being shaped into a series of at least three lobes. The remaining short edge is broken. across a rivet hole. The second lobe has a large circular hole through it, the edges of which do not seem to be worn. There is another rivet hole at the rounded end. A brighter ring of corrosion round the rivet hole suggests that the rivet had a head of about 5mm diameter, the hole being 2.2mm diameter. A complete copper-alloy zoomorphic mount, possibly in the form of an owl of Medieval date.
It is sub-rectangular with a concave back face. The front face is decorated at the top with two projecting knops to represent the ears. The owl has two large oval eyes with a V-shaped groove to define the base of the head. Between the eyes and head there are cross-hatched grooves to depict the feathers. A complete copper-alloy mount in the form of a human face of Post-Medieval date.
It is circular with a concave back face. The front face is decorated to define the face. At the top are short longitudinal grooves to depict the hair. The face has a defined brow with almond shaped eyes with large oval ears on the outer edge. The mouth is triangular with a triangular tongue sticking out. On the lower half of the face diagonal grooves depict the beard.
