An incomplete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) strap-end (c. 850-c. 900). Thomas Class E, no Type. This tongue-shaped strap-end has a small rounded knop at the base and a transverse break at the top. It has similar decoration on both faces. Both faces have a plain rim enclosing a billeted border. Within the border it has vine scroll motifs. The strap-end is reddish brown with light green corrosion products within the crevices. Height: 46.4mm; width: 19.7mm; thickness: 4.4mm. Weight: 12.51g. This strap-end may be a Carolingian import. A complete but damaged Medieval sheet copper-alloy harness pendant in the form of a bell (c. 1200-c. 1400). The globular body has four sound holes. Extending from each sound hole is a slot dividing four tabs folded inwards to form a rounded base. At the top a central suspension arm extends vertically and terminates with a suspension loop. The arm is solid and sub-rectangular in cross-section. The loop is worn and broken at the top.
