A cast copper alloy (bronze) heavily worn, eroded and corroded axe blade most probably from a middle bronze age palstave or possibly palstave adze. The blade fragment is broadly sub-rectangular in plan, and wedge shaped in profile. The cutting edge is broadly crescentic, although little original surface survives. The broken upper edge is uneven and unworn, although heavily patinated suggesting damage in antiquity. The surface is a mid greenish brown colour and is heavily pock-marked. A complete cast copper alloy stirrup strap mount with zoomorphic decoration etched into the face. This style of mount can be classified as Williams Class A, Type 5. See Williams, D. (1997). Late Saxon Stirrup Strap Mounts. CBA Research Report 111. Page 41, nos. 98 - 101. L-shaped in cross section, and lozenge shaped in plan, with tendrils at the upper edges. There are two circular holes placed near the flat edge. A third hole would have been situated at the now missing upper corner.

An incomplete Roman (AD 75-300) copper alloy Colchester derivative, Harlow brooch of 2.d missing the spring mechanism and the pin. The brooch measures 40.55mm in length, 20.6mm wide, 14.75mm thick and weighs 8.04 grams. The wings are C-shaped in cross-section (with a hollowed area for the spring) and span 20.6mm. The reverse of the wing contains a single lug with iron corrosion on both wings. A copper-alloy single-loop buckle, dating from the Medieval period. The buckle is largely intact, with only the pin missing. The frame is 'D-shaped', its width expanding towards the outer side, where the surfaces, which slope downwards and outwards, are decorated by an incised pattern of swirls. A copper alloy Medieval strap loop or slider with separate rivet. In plan the fitting is rectangular. Three of the sides are rectangular in cross section whilst the fourth (front) face is moulded with a central hemispherical knop, flanked by tapering arms with transverse decoration. The attachment face opposite the front face has a central circular hole that would have accommodated the attachment rivet, one side of this hole has broken out to the edge through old damage. A similar strap fitting is shown in Read: Metal Artefacts of Antiquity; No. 219. Date circa 1300-1400 AD.
