A complete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy one-piece button with an integral drilled shank (c. 1600-c. 1700).
This button has a head and shank.
The head is circular in plan, slightly domed at the front and flat at the rear. At the front, there is a circumferential groove close to the edge. Engraved or stamped decoration at the front consists of four hatched panels. These panels form the arms of a cross which has a six-pointed star at the centre. A fragment of a copper-alloy pin of possible Roman date (AD 43-410).
The shaft is missing.
The head is sub-oval in plan and sub-circular in cross-section and has a small nipple at the apex. Five evenly spaced grooves spiral from the base to the apex.
This pin is drab brown and corroded. The break is old.

A complete Medieval cast copper-alloy strap-slide frame with internal projections (c. 1150-c. 1400).
The frame is trapezoidal in plan, with a wider outer frame edge and a sub-oval expansion at its centre. Excepting this feature, the frame is flat on both faces. A third of the way towards the outer edge of the frame from its base is an internal projection at either side. There is no rivet hole.
The fitting has a dark green patina with file marks.
Length: 18.2mm; width: 22.8mm; overall thickness: 4.7mm. Weight: 1.73g.
