Incomplete Roman Colchester copper alloy steelyard weight, a case or shell only, lacking its lead core and iron suspension loop, pear-shaped, round-sectioned with a round opening in the casing at the top and base, the former within a collar. Decoration consists of circumferential grooves, three near the base, three just below the widest part, three more nearer the top and one beneath the collar. The object is abraded and damage has casued dents and two holes. Height 54.5mm. Diameter 45.5mm. c.43 - c.410 AD.
