A Post Medieval decorative mount, possibly for a horse harness fitting. The item is broadly circular in plan. The front face is flat; at the centre is a circle which projects outwards slightly. Surrounding the central circle is a moulded decorative foliate border, probably of oak leaves and acorns. The back of the mount is flat and undecorated and there are traces of four rivets arranged in a square formation at the centre. The material the mount is made from appears to be lead alloy- possily pewter- and there are traces of silvering on the front face.

Copper alloy probable mount. Cast heater shield shaped plate with a blazon comprising a red (gules) bar across the top of the shield (in chief) with a six pointed star (mullet) at each corner; the stars may be pierced with a central pellet of uncertain tint. There is no trace of a suspension loop or other provision for fixing. The display face bears a glossy coat of varnish which has spilled onto the back, which might mask the loss of a loop; alternatively the plate may have been embedded into the surface of a larger object. Suggested date: Medieval, 1300-1400. Height: 29.6mm, Wi…

Surrounding the fish seems to be a foliate design. There are six intact circular perforations, presumably for attachment purposes, and all of this is contained within a raised border running ar…

Treasure case 2014 T282. A medieval silver fragment in the shape of a bearded male head dating to the late fourteenth or fifteenth century. The beard is forked and the hair of the fragment is parted between a rising tuft in the middle of the scalp. The face is worn with the nose now rubbed away. The reverse of the fragment shows a small pin which has broken. There is also a breakage at the small tuft of hair on the head of the object. The object was cast and the pin was integral to this process as there are no signs of soldering on the reverse. Period: Medieval, late 14th - 15th…
