Lead and iron wheel. Cast rouletting wheel with a central axle hole of diameter c.2mm, comprising a cylindrical lead drum studded with six offset pairs of iron pins set so as to produce a regular series of depressions when rolled across a surface. The drum may have a larger diameter on one side than the other - a point only discerned when preparing the image of the object, which if correct would have caused it to describe a circle when in use. Copper alloy vessel fragment. Cast leg from a pipkin, aquamanile or small cauldron. The leg is of plano-convex section, flat behind and with a slight though abraded ridge on its front face. The leg terminates in a probably tripartite sub-triangular foot, possibly modelled on an animal paw. This feature would be apt to an item of tableware, but the object is heavily sooted, suggesting its last use was on the hearth. Suggested date: Medieval, 1200-1350. A Post Medieval complete copper-alloy thimble, dating from c. AD 1450 to 1550. The thimble is a 'beehive' type with a tonsured top. The lower rim is slightly raised on the outside. The circular Indentations on the body of the thimble have been hand punched in a left-handed spiral from the tonsured top to bottom rim. The method of manufacture of the body is uncertain (although the indentations are hand punched). The surface patina is a mid green colour. When found, the inside was filled with hard-packed soil which had prevented the shape from being deformed.

This has a circular, concave, domed plate that is pierced in the centre with a copper alloy rivet still in place, the back of the rivet has a roughly cut octagonal plate. A complete silver strap slide of probable Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1700). The strap slide is rectangular in shape, with a D shaped cross section. The stirrup has the remains of both curving side arms present, but they have broken away at the ends; the stirrup bar is also missing. There is a scallop-shell decorative moulding at the top of the stirrup, which may indicate links with pilgrimage. The scallop-design has deep grooving with a convex upper edge and concave sides and base. Behind the scallp-shell is a rectangular loop, resumably through which a leather strap was fitted.

A cast copper alloy mount dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object is asymmetrical and flat with a horizontal lobe projection at one end and two oval projections at the opposite end. It is decorated with curvilinear grooves in a foliate design. The rear of the object has a rectangular sectioned lug at each end. The object has a dark brown patina. A similar example which can be found in Read, (2001), p30 is no. 350. It can be dated to the 16th century.

A Medieval to Post Medieval copper alloy mount, probably dating from c. AD 1600 - AD 1700. The mount is rounded in the middle, tapering to a point at the top and bottom. Both the front and reverse of the object are plain with no traces of decoration. On the back are two outward curving integral lugs for means of attachment; one is positioned at the top and the other at the bottom of the mount.

Late Mesolithic flint microlith made from a tertiary flake of pale grey near transparent flint. It is rectangular in plan. Both the proximal and distal end terminate where they have been snapped, leaving hinge fractures. Dorsal ridge runs parallel approximately 1mm from the edge, for the entire length of the microlith. The other mesal edge, 2mm from the ridge, has extremely fine short, parallel, abrupt retouch. Dating from c7000 to c4000 BC. The length is 5mm, width 3mm, thickness 0.5mm, and the weight is less than 0.1g.

The reverse face is plain and there are no traces of enamel. The top narrow to a short point- this presumably was the attachment loop for suspension but it has now partially broken away and worn. This harness pendant is particularly small in comparisson to other pendants, and it is possible that this was used for on a smaller animal rather than a horse (Brian Read, pers comm).

Description: A gold finger ring in the form of a D-sectioned band. The outer surface of this band bears a moulded herringbone pattern, with traces of niello or dark enamel remaining in some of the cells, and a single plain area, which may represent evidence of an enlargement. Large and heavy Roman silver finger-ring set with an intaglio. Most of the lower part of the hoop is missing, but is of rectangular profile which expands and swells to triangular shoulders and flat ovoid bezel. Around the top of the ring is a collar of gilding. The intaglio is a pale orange carnelian engraved with a figure of Victory crowning a standing figure of Mars with his head turned the right, unusually away from Victory. Incomplete medieval lead figurine probably depicting the crucified Christ, the lower part missing. The reverse is flat and the front face almost so. Both arms are raised in a position suggestive of crucifixion rather than of prayer, though the hands, with fingers indicated by fine engraving, are not pierced. The nimbed head is ovoid and the eyes, nose and mouth are engraved in a somewhat rudimentary manner. Further lines on the torso suggest a garment. A small attachment hole is placed centrally just above the break. Height 39.7mm. Width 35.4mm. Thickness 3.7mm. 12th - 13th century.
