Description: A gold finger ring in the form of a D-sectioned band. The outer surface of this band bears a moulded herringbone pattern, with traces of niello or dark enamel remaining in some of the cells, and a single plain area, which may represent evidence of an enlargement. The inscription, 'SEDVN DA ME', extends around the inner surface of the band. The meaning of the inscription is unclear although it is possible that it is meant to be the Latin words SECUNDA ME meaning follow me. This inscription is executed in upper-case letters and contains traces of a dark infill.
Date: 16th to 17th century
Dimensions: Diameter: 19mm, Width of band: 3.3mm, Thickness of band: 1mm, Weight: 1.79g.
