Iron Age to Roman (-100 to 200) cosmetic mortar: The copper alloy mortar is crescentic in profile and an elongated pointed oval in plan whose terminals are slightly bulbous knops. In section the mortar has a 'V' shaped section which is narrow and quite shallow. On the outer face of the mortar, at the apex there is an incomplete integral loop. The side faces are undecorated. The surface of the mortar has traces of a mid blue/green patina otherwise it is heavily abraded. It measures 39.09mm long, 5.34mm thick at the centre and weighs 3.4g. Post Medieval (16th to early 17th century) clothing fastening, dress hook: The copper alloy fastening has a central, elaborately shaped and pierced plate, rectangular loop and incomplete hook. The rectangular loop is opposite the hook and plain. The central plate has a flat back and a shaped front. On the front is a central circular plate with a raised rim within which is a raised square piece with four pointed oval indents, one in each corner. Roman (AD c. 69-96) T-shaped brooch: The copper-alloy brooch has a cylindrical crossbar with a copper-alloy axis bar within. The crossbar has a central slot on the reverse to allow the pin to be hinged, and only a fragment of the pin remains. The outer face of the wings is undecorated and are slightly incomplete. A Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 4, flat wing ends type, West Midlands), Mackreth 2011, 4.a-4.b, 4c, Plate 46 of AD c. 80-120. The brooch is copper alloy and incomplete. The wings are semi-cylindrical terminating with perforated wing caps. The wings are undecorated. An incomplete late Iron Age to early Roman copper-alloy strip bow brooch, dating to c. AD 45 - 120. The wings, bow head and partial bow remain. All other features have been lost. The wings are formed of integral rolled tabs with a central notch between, which would have housed the axis bar and pin. The bow has a flat rectangular cross section and tapers slightly away from the head before terminating in a worn break.
