Obverse: [ ]WR ANGL DN[ ] (unbarred Ns); Crowned bust facing with a trifoliate crown and wedged drapery, star on breast Reverse: CIVI/TA[ ]/[ ]/DON (unbarred N); Long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant Diameter: 18.2mm. Weight: 0.90g. DA=12:6. North, J.J. 1991. English Hammered Coinage, Volume II, Edward I to Charles II, 1272-1662. Spink & Son, London.

A Medieval silver groat of Edward III. Fourth Coinage, Series B, issued c. 1351. Initial mark: Cross 1; annulet stops. Mint of London. Cf. North 1991 Vol II, p. 49, no. 1142. The coin is unusually thick, with a clipped circumference that is straight-sided. Possible contemporary copy; however, the full legends and depictions seem to be authentic.
