A worn cast copper-alloy belt or strap mount of Post-Medieval date. It is in the form of an acorn with pointed oval shaped plate that is slightly concave on the back face and convex on the front face.The front face has the remains of moulded decoration comprising double transverse grooves at its centre delineating acorn and acorn cup, the remainder of the decoration obscured by post-depositional corrosion and wear. At the base of the plate is an integral knop set at right angles to the plane of the plate. On the back face of the mount are the remains of two incomplete cylindrical lugs…

A very worn and incomplete Roman Colchester bow brooch. It is missing most of the pin and outer edge of he catchplate due to old breaks. The wings are rectangular in form and section with no surviving decorative elements. At the centre of the wings is an integral rear hook that folds forwards onto the head of the bow. This holds in place an integral spring chord and spring of 10 coils, as well as a separately cast copper-alloy axis bar, and the remains of the now incomplete pin.
