Rim fragment from a late Medieval or Post Medieval cast copper alloy vessel. The thick everted rim is dished with a concave upper side and convex curved lower face. The broad flat top edge is thickened by a triangular sectioned swelling on the inner face. The lower point is just starting to bend back out before the break at the constricted neck where the rim met the body of the vessel. The internal surface is smoother than the outer which has smoothing lines from the clay mould. Both sides are extensively sooted and the breaks are old. A copper-alloy stud or mount of Post-Medieval date. It has a domed head that is stamped or punched to give it a sexfoil appearance with deep separating each lobe or 'petal'. On the underside of the head two neighbouring lobes have initials, presumably maker's marks, comprising the letters J and M. At the centre of the back face is an integral rivet or shaft that is square in section and tapers to a sharp point, now folded flat against the back face of the head.
