Complete, slightly bent silver bodkin (head-dress pin). The overall shape of the bodkin is an elongated rectangle in plan and sub-rectangular in section, with slightly convex sides and tapers towards a pointed terminal end, the last 25mm of which is bent 90° from the rest of the shaft. The bodkin has two openings, one at the wider end which is circular and 2mm in diameter. The other opening is approximately 10mm further along the shaft and is longitudinal and 12mm long by 2mm wide. Pottery rim sherd. Sandy oxidised fabric rim fragment, from an open vessel with an everted squared rim. A trace of glaze appears under the rim, suggesting the vessel was splash glazed. Copper alloy brooch fragment. Hinged Aesica brooch, Mackreth type AES 4.a. Tubular wings clenched behind retaining an axis bar and a cast pin. The wings are met by a broad upper bow with central ridge whose top or crest is lost, flanked by wide flutes with outer ridges, and with knops at its corners. The lower bow is lost. A pair of loops of length 23mm for the attachment of spur leathers are retained in the terminal; each comprises a rhomboid plate with traces of a rivet of diameter 2.7mm, a projecting pair of stops, and the looped part, which is closed by being bent back on itself. Cast mount comprising a flat-based plate with higher central part with an integrally cast rivet of 5.5mm square which now projects c.13mm - its tip is lost - from the middle of the back. An heraldic motif comprises a central heater shield flanked by tripartite spigs of foliage. Greenstone polished axe, reworked into waisted form. Polished Group 6 axehead fragment comprising a crescentic cutting edge and c.30mm of the original sides of the axe meeting its ends. Beyond this point, pecking has transformed a probable originally oval form of lentoid section by forming a marked waist or in-swing. This might have facilitated a tied fastening, though its security was perhaps compromised by loss or damage to the butt end, which is probably truncated and certainly fractured.
